Orange
Are you prone to letting your virtual trash can rot on its own? There’s a new app in town that takes a lighthearted approach to decluttering your digital life. Bananabin, a quirky program currently in beta for macOS, utilizes a swarm of animated flies to signal when your Trash folder is overflowing. The brainchild of Leon Schrijvers and Rik Schennink with a mission to make digital hygiene engaging, Bananabin works by monitoring the amount of data stored in your Trash. Once it surpasses a user-defined threshold, the app unleashes a flurry of virtual flies around your Dock's Trash icon. These persistent pests are a humorous reminder to take action and clear out those unwanted files. Users can choose their fly infestation level based on their storage needs, with options ranging from ‘Janitor Mode’ (a small swarm triggered by 10MB of data) to ‘Garbage Hoarder’ (a buzzing multitude appearing only when a whopping 10GB has accumulated). While free to use in beta, a small one-time fee is planned for the official release. Additionally, the app currently only supports macOS Sonoma, with future compatibility for Ventura in the works. https://bananabin.app/ https://www.macobserver.com/mac/this-mac-app-helps-you-shoo-away-the-flies-and-manage-trash/ https://www.techedt.com/the-animated-flies-app-reminds-you-to-empty-your-macs-trash https://www.techtimes.com/articles/306211/20240701/new-mac-app-bananabin-uses-animated-flies-manage-trash-makes.htm https://x.com/mkbhd/status/1808510659174322258 Image: Rik Schennink
