Original 'Habbo Hotel' returns after developer uncovers lost files from 2005

Sulake, the chatroom game’s developer, stumbled upon a dusty server containing the long-lost files of the 2005 version. Enter Macklebee, a dedicated developer and longtime player, who thoroughly pieced together this virtual time capsule. The result is Habbo Hotel: Origins, where you get the chance to revisit the pixelated lobbies, quirky minigames, and social shenanigans that made the original Habbo so iconic.

 

 

 

There are, however, a few key differences. Habbo Hotel: Origins opens with a fresh, “community-led approach.” The InfoBus Park, a familiar fixture for old-school Habbo players, will double up as a democratic forum. Here, admins will guide conversations about the game’s development and direction, and members will get to vote to shape its evolution.

 

 

Further, this former childhood game is now built with an 18+ audience in mind. This means moderation won’t be as strict, though necessary updates have been added to comply with modern safety regulations. These include more profile options for enhanced privacy control, GDPR support for data management, and mandatory TOTP registration/login to bolster account security.

 

 

 

Three hotels will be available at launch, catering to English, Portuguese, and Spanish-speaking players. This ensures a vibrant and diverse community from the get-go.
