Marshy
Takashi Murakami, renowned for his vibrant, anime-inspired art, has seen his signature smiling flowers take on many forms—from paintings and sculptures to high-profile fashion collaborations. Now, thanks to a dedicated fan known as BelgianDesigner, the Japanese pop artist’s motif is blooming beautifully in brick form. On July 31, LEGO Ideas gave BelgianDesigner’s Murakami-inspired flower a major thumbs up, expressing its admiration for the “wonderfully cheerful” design and selecting it as its Staff Pick of the day. It’s a pretty big deal, considering the platform is a breeding ground for LEGO dreams. The DIY sculpture (more images here) will delight minimalists and maximalists alike. A simple black pot provides the perfect stage for the colorful flower to steal the show. It’s the kind of piece that could instantly brighten up a desk or shelf or add a pop of color to your workspace—talk about a mood booster! LEGO Ideas is where fans go to hopefully convince the toymaker to produce their own builds. To become a real LEGO set, a design needs to garner 10,000 votes on the LEGO Ideas platform. https://ideas.lego.com/projects/364c5372-c48c-4d96-ad64-1e1575a593ed Opening image: Beethoven1612 | Dreamstime.com
