Cursed horse in 'We Live in Time' promo steals show from stars Florence Pugh & Andrew Garfield

Hey, aren’t you the horse from Horsin’ Around? A24 has released a still for John Crowley’s upcoming romantic comedy We Live in Time. And while it stars Florence Pugh and Andrew Garfield, a different mane attraction has galloped to the forefront.

 

 

While the promotional image was supposed to showcase the chemistry between its human leads, social media users instead found themselves fixated by a carousel horse with an expression so comically pained and panicked, it could give method actors a run for their money.

 

The image depicts Pugh and Garfield enjoying a carefree carousel ride, yet it’s the wooden steed in the foreground that’s captured the internet's imagination. With eyes bulging and nostrils flaring, this equine extra appears to be having an existential crisis of carousel-sized proportions.

 

 

As memes often do, this one quickly took on a life of its own.

The horse’s anguished visage found its way onto X (formerly Twitter), and even across the BoJack Horseman subreddit. A24, too, reposted the picture, proving that there’s plenty to neigh about.

Interestingly, the official movie poster takes a different tack. In that version, our scene-stealer is blurred into obscurity, allowing its supporting cast members Pugh and Garfield to reclaim their intended spotlight.

 

But for many internet users, the damage—or delight—has already been done.
