Venezia FC has unveiled a fresh look for the new Serie A season, partnering with Nike-backed NOCTA, the sports apparel brand co-created by Canadian music superstar Drake. The new home kit marks a departure from the club’s traditional sponsor-free Kappa jerseys, introducing a bold and contemporary aesthetic.

The jersey features a striking black base, a contrast to Venezia’s iconic Arancio, Nero, Verde (orange, black, green) color scheme, which is still represented through vibrant orange and green accents on the sleeves and side panels. A subtle, all-over star pattern, a signature NOCTA element, adds depth and visual interest, while gold detailing on the club crest, sponsor logo, and piping elevates the overall design.

The partnership with NOCTA comes at a crucial moment for Venezia FC. In 2023, the club faced significant financial challenges and was on the brink of bankruptcy. However, a substantial investment from Drake provided a crucial lifeline, securing €40 million ($43.7 million) to stabilize the club’s financial position. This collaboration represents a strategic shift towards a more commercially focused approach while maintaining the club’s rich heritage.

Drake’s investment in Venezia FC is part of a growing trend of celebrities investing in soccer clubs. For instance, British musician Ed Sheeran recently acquired a minority stake in his hometown club, Ipswich Town FC. While Sheeran’s involvement is more passive, it underscores the increasing interest of high-profile individuals in the sport.

Another notable example is the acquisition of Wrexham AFC by Hollywood actors Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney. Their high-profile ownership has revitalized the club, attracting global attention and investment.

The debut of the NOCTA home kit during Venezia FC’s Serie A opener against Lazio generated excitement among fans and fashion enthusiasts alike. While the team’s on-field performance will ultimately determine the season’s success, the partnership with NOCTA has undoubtedly injected new energy into the club. As Venezia FC embraces this fresh direction, supporters eagerly anticipate the team’s performance and the impact of the new kit on their journey.

What are your thoughts on Venezia FC’s new home kit? And what are do you think of their chances this season?
