Enter Stage Rite
Netflix is blasting off into a new era of mecha mayhem with Gundam: Requiem for Vengeance, and it’s giving fans a quick yet intimate look before the series’ release on October 17. A new clip running a little under five minutes teases adrenaline-pumping battle sequences and detailed animation. Set in the Universal Century timeline, Requiem for Vengeance focuses on the European front of the One Year War—a key conflict between the Earth Federation and the Principality of Zeon. The taster highlights the Red Wolves, a division of the Earth Federation forces, led by ace pilot Iria Sorari, as they launch an attack on a Zeon-controlled base in Eastern Europe. Visually, Requiem for Vengeance breaks new ground for the franchise. Entirely animated using CGI and produced with Unreal Engine 5, the series aims to bring a fresh, dynamic look to the Gundam universe. The creative team behind the series includes writer Gavin Hignight and director Erasmus Brosdau, with the animation being handled by Gundam veterans Sunrise in collaboration with SAFEHOUSE. Set to premiere exclusively on Netflix next month, Requiem for Vengeance marks the second fully computer-animated Gundam series, following Mobile Suit Gundam MS IGLOO. It’s also the first to utilize Unreal Engine 5, guaranteeing a viewing experience that’ll have fans’ mobile suits in a twist.
