Burger King debuts 3 Whoppers invented by fans, and one of them is walking away with $1 million

Burger King is whopping it up and putting the crown in the hands of fans who know how to push the boundaries of the famed Whopper. In February, it rolled out a bespoke artificial intelligence generator as part of a new Million Dollar Whopper Contest, inviting diners from across the US to dream up their dream burger for a chance to win $1 million and a spot on the menu.

 

Well, the campaign drew over a million submissions, and after sifting through them, the fast-food chain has announced its top three Whopper creators, each bringing their own flavorful twist to the iconic sandwich to the table.

The Fried Pickle Ranch Whopper, courtesy of Fabian from California, offers a tangy twist with pickle ranch, fried pickles, and Swiss cheese.

 

Calvin, also from California, concocted the Maple Bourbon BBQ Whopper, a sweet and savory delight with maple bourbon BBQ sauce, crispy onions, and jalapeños.

 

And Kelsie from Nebraska introduced the Mexican Street Corn Whopper, a fiery fusion of street corn spread, Southwest-seasoned tortilla crisps, and Mexican spicy queso.

 

“The Million Dollar Whopper Contest was all about taking ‘Have It Your Way’ to the next level, and we were blown away by the thought and creativity that went into the Whopper creations that were submitted,” expresses Pat O'Toole, chief marketing officer of Burger King North America. 

 

“Selecting just three finalists was no easy task, but we're confident Guests will love these creative delicious takes on the iconic Whopper sandwich, and can't wait for them to be available in restaurants this fall.”

These mouthwatering inventions will hit participating Burger King locations nationwide this fall, giving customers the chance to taste and vote for their favorite. The ultimate winner, to be crowned in mid-November, will be determined based on feasibility, popularity, and innovation. The creator of the winning burger will not only see their creation on the menu but also walk away with a cool $1 million prize.
