Enter Stage Rite
Prime Video is bringing The Office down under, and this time with a fresh twist—introducing the franchise’s first female lead. Australian comedian Felicity Ward steps into the spotlight as Hannah Howard, the awkward, overly enthusiastic boss in the newly revealed trailer for The Office Australia. This latest adaptation, set in a fictional Sydney-based packaging company, promises the same cringeworthy humor and workplace chaos that fans of the UK and US versions have grown to love. In this version, Hannah Howard is the well-meaning but inept managing director of Flinley Craddick, a company facing a post-pandemic shakeup. After hearing that her branch will be shut down and her staff sent to work from home, Hannah is adamant about keeping her dysfunctional “work family” together. The trailer offers a glimpse of Ward’s portrayal of Hannah, evoking shades of Steve Carell’s iconic Michael Scott, with her over-the-top antics and misguided optimism. Viewers are also introduced to the ensemble cast, featuring Edith Poor as Lizze (channeling the energy of the notorious Dwight Schrute) and Steen Raskopoulos and Shari Sebbens taking on the roles akin to Jim and Pam, the franchise’s beloved workplace couple. Co-produced by BBC Studios Australia & New Zealand, Bunya Entertainment, and Amazon MGM Studios, The Office Australia marks the 13th adaptation of the series. Set to premiere on October 18, the show will be available for streaming on Prime Video in 240 countries and territories… practically everywhere but the United States. https://www.abc.net.au/news/2024-09-18/the-office-australia-trailer-reactions-felicity-ward-prime-video/104364376 https://au.variety.com/2024/tv/news/the-office-australian-version-official-trailer-17637/ https://concreteplayground.com/brisbane/arts-entertainment/the-office-australia-trailer Image: Prime Video AU & NZ
