Coloroscopio
Apple is reportedly breaking free from its traditional routine of yearly product releases with a more flexible cycle, according to Bloomberg's Mark Gurman in his latest Power On newsletter. The approach would allow for more frequent, as-needed rollouts rather than sticking to a fixed schedule, a change being introduced to curb the impact of delays and improve the overall user experience. The company has been known to launch devices like clockwork, with iPhones, iPads, and Macs hitting the market each year. But recent challenges, like software glitches and delayed feature rollouts, have pushed the company to rethink this strategy. The most notable example was the iPadOS 18 update, where key features were postponed due to struggles to meet their expected release date. A more adaptable timeline would mean better management, as Apple can focus on delivering products that are fully ready for the market, rather than fixating on a calendar-driven approach. This would not only allow for better quality control but also ensure that new releases are met with fewer software issues or incomplete features. The move comes as Apple is expanding its product lineup. With the upcoming launch of Apple Intelligence and new M4-powered Macs, the company is branching out into more advanced technologies, including artificial intelligence. https://www.bloomberg.com/news/newsletters/2024-10-06/when-will-apple-intelligence-be-released-when-is-apple-releasing-m4-macs-ipad-m1xksx7q https://www.phonearena.com/news/apple-moving-away-from-yearly-product-releases_id163431 https://www.techopedia.com/news/m4-devices-and-apple-intelligence-headline-new-launch-cycle-era Photo: Patrice88 | Dreamstime.com
