As the sun slipped behind the moon for a breathtaking solar eclipse on October 2, Corona found a way to bottle the moment. In a clever visual twist, the beer brand captured the partially eclipsed sun as a slice of lime resting atop its iconic bottle, turning a rare celestial event into a playful homage to the time-honored tradition of enjoying a cold Corona with citrus. It was the ultimate “lime light” moment for the brand.

The striking image, created by agency DAVID Miami, is part of a global campaign that kicked off during the annular solar eclipse, which was visible in parts of South America and the Atlantic Ocean. The photograph blends Corona’s natural branding with the wonders of astronomy, using the moon’s partial coverage of the sun to mimic the well-known practice of topping a Corona bottle with a lime wedge. The result is a picture that seamlessly links the beauty of nature with the brand's identity.

Photographers strategically stationed in Brazil, Chile, Uruguay, and Argentina were tasked with capturing the split-second image at just the right moment. Extensive planning was required to ensure that the sun’s positioning would fit perfectly into the visual concept, almost as if nature had a hand in the campaign.

“We had only a brief window to capture the moment due to the angle required to form the lime, and the results were truly incredible—perfectly embodying the essence of Corona,” explained Brazilian photographer Marcelo Maragni, who led the team in snapping the perfect shot. According to Maragni, it took just five minutes to lock in the ideal frame—an impressive feat given the complex logistics.

The visual, beyond its appearance on digital platforms, has made its way onto billboards and out-of-home (OOH) media in several locations. While the photo might be a fleeting representation of the eclipse, its resonance with Corona's long-standing natural image feels timeless.

For those who missed the eclipse, the next annular solar eclipse won’t occur until February 2026, but this creative use of the phenomenon proves that even the smallest sliver of sunlight is enough to spark something memorable.
