Casio supersizes the charm of its vintage A158 watch into a desk clock

Casio has decided to turn back the clock by supersizing one of its classic timepieces, the A158 digital wristwatch from 1989. Say hello to the DQD-851J-8JF, a desk clock that’s bringing big time energy to your workspace.

 

This retro clock, measuring 102 x 117 x 48 millimeters and weighing 185 grams, keeps the familiar silver-tone casing and digital display of the original but scales it up for your desktop. 

 

 

This throwback does come with some handy updates for the present day. There’s a built-in thermometer and hygrometer, providing useful environmental data at a glance. In addition, the clock features a customizable snooze alarm with five sound levels, a full auto calendar, and the option to switch between 12/24-hour time formats. For those late-night checks, the amber LED light makes reading the display in the dark a breeze.

 

Powered by two AA batteries, the desk clock offers impressive longevity, with a battery life of at least a year before needing replacements. The modern tribute is currently available in Japan for 4,378 yen (around $29).
