'Tetris' relaunches 15 past-era versions in one 40th-anniversary collection

The iconic puzzle game Tetris is turning 40, and to celebrate, Digital Eclipse is releasing Tetris Forever, a comprehensive compilation that brings together over 15 classic games from the series’ history. Set to launch later this year, this collection will offer fans a nostalgic journey through Tetris’ rich past, with many titles making their debut outside Japan for the first time. Among the highlights is a brand-new game, Tetris Time Warp, which promises to add a fresh twist to the familiar gameplay.

 

Fans can battle it out in multiplayer favorite Tetris Battle Gaiden, cause explosive chain reactions in Super Bombliss, or go back to the very beginning with a faithful recreation of the first-ever Tetris on the Electronika 60 computer from 1984.

 

 

In addition to these throwbacks, the collection also includes over 90 minutes of documentary featurettes that dive into the lifelong friendship and collaboration between Tetris creator Alexey Pajitnov and Henk Rogers, founder of The Tetris Company. These films will uncover the fascinating, and previously untold, stories behind the game’s global rise to fame.

 

One of the most prominent additions is Tetris Time Warp, an all-new game where up to four players can “warp” between different eras of Tetris in real time, experiencing a range of visual styles and mechanics from across the game’s history.

 

Tetris Forever will be available on a wide range of platforms, including Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
