As Delta Air Lines approaches its centennial, it’s not just winging it when it comes to passenger comfort. The airline is soaring into its “next century of flying” with a cabin makeover that promises to elevate the in-flight experience to new heights.

The overhaul touches every aspect of the cabin, from seating materials to lighting and color schemes. Gone are the bright blues of yesteryear, replaced by a sophisticated palette of navy and dark gray, accented with subtle hints of red to add warmth. Meanwhile, new lighting is designed to promote relaxation throughout the journey.

“Delta has a 100-year history of creating a customer experience that feels welcoming and thoughtful with intentional design elements woven into every aspect of a customer’s travel,” explains Parise. “As we embark on our next century of flying, this refreshed cabin interior infuses utility with beauty to create an atmosphere that feels fresh, elevated, and timeless while reflecting our customers’ evolving tastes and expectations.”

One of the highlights of this revamp is the introduction of more breathable materials, like wool-blend fabrics in Delta One seats, designed to keep passengers comfortable on long flights. Memory foam cushions will also make their way into the seats, ensuring more support for travelers in various classes, from First Class to Main Cabin. Even in Comfort+ and Main Cabin, passengers will find updated black seats with red accents in engineered leather.

Dynamic lighting illuminates the project. The upgraded system adjusts throughout the flight to create calming atmospheres, including a “candlelit dinner” effect during meals and a soothing sunset glow when it’s time to sleep.

New design motifs on bulkheads feature the ‘Infinite Grid’ and ‘Celestial Sky’ patterns, evoking Delta’s global network and the wonder of flight. Even the lavatories are getting an upgrade, with bright walls, modern color schemes, and improved flooring for cleanliness and safety.

Thoughtful touches like multi-purpose seating, new bulkhead patterns, and refreshed lavatories with improved lighting and modern finishes all contribute to a smoother, more comfortable travel experience.

The new interiors will hit the skies on Boeing 757 aircraft later this fall, with Airbus A350 aircraft following in early 2025. Over the next few years, both newly-delivered and existing aircraft will sport the modern look.
