Global music sensation Bad Bunny and soccer legend Lionel Messi have joined forces to launch the Bad Bunny & Messi Collection, a new Adidas shoe line that merges sport and music. Scheduled for release on October 26, the collaboration reflects their shared passions and highlights the intersection of athletic achievement and artistic expression.

At the core of the collection are two reimagined Adidas classics: the Gazelle and the F50 cleat. Originally introduced in 1966, the Gazelle has evolved from indoor soccer footwear into a lifestyle staple—and is one of Bad Bunny’s personal favorites.

Meanwhile, the F50, a key part of Messi’s illustrious career, holds deep personal significance, symbolizing his journey on the pitch. Both shoes feature design elements that honor Messi’s legacy, including gold accents inspired by his many trophies and an ‘X’ stripe on the heel—a subtle reference to his iconic number 10 jersey.

Drawing from Adidas’ design heritage, the duo incorporated elements from a 1949 shoe made with natural brown leather, adding depth and historical richness to the collection’s aesthetic.

The collection also reflects the personal stories of both stars. Bad Bunny, whose real name is Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio, spoke about the significance of working with Messi: “Collaborating with him is an honor that so many people dream of, and I never imagined I could achieve it. Today, I feel so grateful to represent our culture with the GOAT.”

Messi shared with Billboard Español how music plays an important role in his life, accompanying him during workouts, travel, and moments of relaxation. He emphasized the connection between music and soccer, noting that Bad Bunny’s songs are always present in his playlists.

Fan involvement has also played a crucial role in the development of this collaboration, fueled by Adidas’ La Voz de los Fans campaign. Both Messi and Bad Bunny credited their supporters for shaping their careers. “This collaboration wouldn’t have happened without the fans,” said Bad Bunny.

A heartfelt letter, crafted from messages across Instagram, YouTube, and X (formerly Twitter), forms the emotional centerpiece of the campaign. In a short film, Messi and Bad Bunny read excerpts from the letter, which begins with a moving statement: “This country wouldn’t be the same,” says Messi. “...if you were born anywhere else,” continues Bad Bunny.

The Bad Bunny & Messi Collection goes beyond footwear, celebrating the synergy between two cultural icons and pushing the boundaries of fashion, sport, and art. It reinforces Adidas’ role in shaping culture and inspires fans to embrace creativity and passion.
