Prince William has taken a bold step in a long-standing mission to combat homelessness through his new documentary, Prince William: We Can End Homelessness.

In his new documentary series, the Prince of Wales takes viewers behind the scenes of his Homewards initiative, a five-year project under The Royal Foundation. Premiering on ITV on October 30 and 31, before moving to Disney+ on November 1, the series dives into the lives of those affected by homelessness and explores efforts to create a society where everyone has a safe place to call home.

The documentary spans a year in the life of the Homewards program, following Prince William on his journey to six locations across the UK, including Aberdeen, Newport, and the London borough of Lambeth.

Drawing inspiration from his late mother Princess Diana’s advocacy work, William’s approach combines personal engagement with practical solutions that can be adapted across the UK, inspired by Finland’s Housing First approach, which has successfully curbed homelessness through the prioritization of stable housing.

Throughout the series, viewers are offered a closer look at Prince William’s motivations, and the experiences that influenced him, including the legacy of his late mother. Known for her own commitment to the cause, Princess Diana first introduced her young son to the harsh realities of homelessness by taking him to charity events as a child. These moments have clearly left an indelible mark, shaping William’s current campaign against the homelessness crisis.

Filmmaker Leo Burley brings depth and nuance to this BAFTA-directed series, avoiding sugar-coating the issue while providing a hopeful look at potential solutions. Through interviews with those directly impacted by homelessness, the documentary reveals the human stories behind the statistics—personal struggles, resilience, and hope. Prince William also addresses criticism regarding his privileged position, affirming that his commitment stems from a genuine desire to use his influence for good.

Alongside figures like Gail Porter, footballer Tyrone Mings, and activist David Duke MBE, the series calls for a united effort to make homelessness rare and short-lived.
