Members Enter Stage Rite Posted November 12 Members Posted November 12 HBO’s The Penguin, the dark and gritty spin-off from The Batman (2022), has been capturing attention for more than just its storyline. Recently, fans have noticed a clever hidden design detail in the show’s logo that adds depth to the series’ moody vibes. In the show’s title, the negative space in the letter ‘G’ seemingly forms the shape of a beak, drawing comparisons with Oswald “Oz” Cobblepot, the character also known as The Penguin. It's a blink-and-you'll-miss-it detail, but once spotted, it's hard not to appreciate the creativity behind it. The design choice ties neatly into the character's identity and even seems to reference Colin Farrell’s portrayal of Cobblepot, whose profile was overlaid on the font in one episode—a wink by the creators. This little flourish feels like the kind of design touch that truly embodies the dark and twisted nature of Gotham. The wordmark itself uses a typeface called PL Fiorello Condensed, which features sharp, distinctive angles throughout the letters. It appears the design was unintentional, with the logo’s designer, Sanjay Vijayaverl, admitting that it was a “happy coincidence.” Whether purposeful or not, this subliminal beak in The Penguin logo is a flapping success.
