Administrators Orange Posted November 20 Administrators Posted November 20 Instagram is giving users the chance to start anew when it comes to their content feed. With a new feature in testing that lets people reset their content preferences, the social media app aims to help those who feel their feed has drifted too far from their current interests. Announced by Instagram head Adam Mosseri, this feature allows users to wipe the slate clean, resetting recommendations across the Explore page, Reels, and even their home feed. It would be particularly helpful for those whose tastes have changed or who are unhappy with the content being suggested to them. Initially, this might mean seeing less interesting posts since the algorithm treats the user like a new account, but as time passes, it will adapt to reflect the user's evolving interests. To access the feature, go to Settings > Content preferences > Reset suggested content. For those wanting even more control, Instagram also offers the option to review and unfollow accounts that no longer spark their interest. Instagram has positioned this reset feature as something users will likely use occasionally, rather than as a frequent tool. The goal is to enhance satisfaction by allowing a more accurate reflection of personal preferences over time. Alongside this, Instagram continues to offer other tools for users to shape their feed—like marking posts as “Interested” or “Not Interested” and using the “Hidden Words” feature to block content they’d rather not see. Whether your interests have changed from cooking videos to travel blogs or you just want a fresh start, this reset feature could make all the difference in how you enjoy the app. https://www.cnet.com/tech/services-and-software/instagram-will-let-users-start-their-recommendations-over-from-scratch/ https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/cd6vpy8e6jvo https://bgr.com/tech/instagram-will-finally-let-you-reset-algorithm-recommendations/ https://lifehacker.com/tech/how-to-reset-your-instagram-algorithm Images: Instagram Quote
