Minecraft is breaking out of the screen and heading straight to the real world, specifically in the United States and the United Kingdom. Mojang Studios, the creator of Minecraft, is teaming up with Merlin Entertainments, the folks behind Legoland and Madame Tussauds, to bring a whole new kind of block party to life with upcoming Minecraft theme parks.

Set to open between 2026 and 2027, these attractions promise to turn the virtual magic of the game—the best-selling video game of all time—into an IRL adventure. And if everything goes according to plan, the parks will eventually expand globally.

The theme parks will be packed with attractions designed to capture the essence of Minecraft’s charm. Visitors can expect themed rides, restaurants, retail stores, and even accommodations—all infused with the game’s unique pixelated style.

For fans who want to level up their experience, the parks will offer special touchpoints that let you unlock exclusive in-game content as you explore, bringing a new dimension to Minecraft’s immersive universe.

Merlin Entertainments plans to invest over £85 million in this collaboration. With its experience running well-loved attractions like Alton Towers, it’s aiming to ensure these Minecraft parks bring the game to life in a way that’s both thrilling and authentic. Expect rides inspired by the game’s world—like minecart-themed attractions—and encounters with in-game characters like the iconic creepers. It’s all about recreating Minecraft’s exploration and creativity in a way that players can touch, see, and be a part of.

This new venture fits into a wider trend of video games stepping into the physical entertainment space. Just like Nintendo launched its Super Nintendo World at Universal Studios Japan back in 2021 (and later brought it stateside), and Atari announced plans for its own themed hotels, Minecraft’s jump to theme parks reflects the ongoing effort to create real-world experiences out of beloved virtual landscapes. Fans can now feel that magic off-screen, and it’s clear the demand is there.

As these parks take shape, they’re poised to become an exciting destination for both long-time players and newcomers, giving everyone a chance to mine, craft, and explore beyond their screens.
