Disney+ is reaching into the vault of beloved anime classics, and this time, it’s resurrecting an iconic tale of high-stakes heists. The streaming platform has announced a fresh anime adaptation of the manga series Cat’s Eye, set to hit screens in 2025, more than four decades after the original made its debut. It’s a purr-fect time for a revival, as fans old and new gear up for more thrilling escapades.

Disney unveiled the project at its 2024 APAC Content Showcase in Singapore, complete with a teaser trailer and poster featuring the silhouettes of the main characters. The classic tale of three sisters who balance their daytime cafe business with nighttime art heists will return to screens in 2025, marking over four decades since its original anime debut.

Originally penned by Tsukasa Hojo and published in Weekly Shonen Jump from 1981 to 1985, Cat’s Eye follows siblings Hitomi, Rui, and Ai as they navigate their double lives. The story captured readers’ imagination with its blend of family dynamics, criminal expertise, and cafe culture.

Popular Japanese vocalist Ado will perform the new theme song, adding a contemporary touch to the reimagined series. The announcement follows last year's successful crossover film with Lupin III, which helped spark renewed interest in the franchise.

This adaptation represents Disney’s latest move to expand its anime offerings, targeting both longtime fans and newcomers to the series. The streaming service aims to preserve the essence of the original while updating it for current audiences.
