Members Marshy Posted November 25 Members Posted November 25 Thirsty for more art that makes you ponder, “Why?” Liquid Death has unveiled a satirical masterpiece, featuring a taped-up can of flavored water at $5.2 million. Some might call it fruitless art, but Liquid Death is taking a juicy jab at the fine art world’s latest splash. Soon after Maurizio Cattelan’s infamous banana and duct tape piece, Comedian, fetched $6.2 million at Sotheby’s in New York (far more than its expected price of $1.5 million), the edgy beverage brand has rushed out Can of Art, which entails a can of its Mango Chainsaw sparkling water taped to a wall. Liquid Death, however, is asking for a fixed $5.2 million, so for those who didn’t get the chance to spill the big bucks on the banana piece, you’ll be able to grab this at a *slightly*, albeit still eye-watering, discounted rate. Unlike the banana, this version comes with some extra perks—a roll of duct tape, a certificate of authenticity, and a 10-year supply of Mango Chainsaw. Playing up the absurdity of everyday items being sold for exorbitant prices, Liquid Death jokingly notes, “This is a tremendous value given that a 19.2oz can of our flavored sparkling water is valued at more than twice a banana in your local convenience store.” Image: Liquid Death Quote
