Universal-Pictures-Responds-To-Rumored-Wicked-Pay-Gap-Between-Ariana-Grande-Cynthia-Erivo-Elphaba-Glinda-Galinda-1.jpeg

It looks like the wicked rumors were just a lot of noise. Universal Pictures has finally addressed the whispers about a supposed pay gap between Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo for their roles in the Wicked movie.

Reports had been circulating that Grande, who plays Glinda, received a hefty $15 million paycheck while Erivo, portraying Elphaba, got only $1 million. However, Universal has stepped forward to say that this information is “completely false” and merely a case of online speculation running wild.

The allegations seem to have originated from social media platforms like TikTok and Reddit, where posts inaccurately listed the actresses’ pay, prompting a flurry of discussion and outrage from fans.

Universal, however, was quick to put a stop to the talk. A studio spokesperson made it clear that both Grande and Erivo received equal compensation for their contributions to the film, emphasizing that the claims were “based on internet fodder.” While not providing any specific numbers, the studio has reaffirmed a stance on equitable pay.

Directed by Jon M. Chu, Wicked is one of the most highly anticipated film adaptations in recent memory, drawing on the beloved Broadway musical that explores the backstory of the witches of Oz.

Despite the speculation, neither Grande nor Erivo has publicly commented on the alleged pay difference. With Universal stepping in to clear the air, fans can now focus on what truly matters—whether the movie lives up to the magic of the stage production… and by the looks of reviews so far, it certainly does.
