Members Marshy Posted November 29 Members Posted November 29 Everyone loves fried chicken—but do you love it enough to take care of it, instead of making it your dinner? KFC has amusingly introduced 'Eduardochi', a digital pet inspired by the 1990s craze for Tamagotchi. Instead of the typical handheld virtual pet, however, you're looking after a drumstick. With Eduardochi, developed in collaboration with creative agency PS21, fans can feed, nurture, and care for a digital version of a fried chicken drumstick as it grows. The device itself sticks to the retro theme, complete with a small digital screen, four buttons, and a battery-operated system that instantly evokes the classic 90s experience. To launch Eduardochi, KFC set up a pop-up Chicken Store in Madrid's Plaza de Callao from November 26 to 28, 2024, where a limited number of Eduardochi devices were given out, with the added draw of special promotions and discounts. Eduardochi was also made available on KFC's app and website starting November 25. From December 3, it will be offered in KFC restaurants across Spain for just €3.99 (around $4.22 USD) with the purchase of a menu item, while supplies last. Eduardo started as a viral meme in December 2021, when people online humorously gave Spanish names to everyday objects, with a fried chicken drumstick christened ‘Eduardo’. The concept took off, and KFC ran with it, turning Eduardo into a quirky part of their brand—most notably releasing a limited-edition perfume called ‘Eau D’uardo’, inspired by their secret blend of herbs and spices. https://www.marketingdirecto.com/creacion/campanas-de-marketing/kfc-presenta-eduardochi-regresa-muslo-pollo-iconico https://dircomfidencial.com/marketing/estas-navidades-kfc-despierta-la-nostalgia-millennial-con-su-mascota-virtual-eduardochi-20241125-1352/ Images: PS21 and KFC Spain Quote
