Members Trendiggity Posted November 30 Members Posted November 30 One consumer’s snacking experience turned out to be a little smooth for comfort. A man from Aylesbury, Harry Seager, recently unwrapped a Mars bar expecting the usual iconic chocolate swirl on top, only to find it completely smooth. It was a confectionery surprise he wasn't expecting, and it left him wondering whether this was part of a new cost-cutting strategy. The uncanny Mars bar, which he purchased from a service station in Thame, turned out to be a one-off manufacturing blip, as confirmed by Mars Wrigley UK. The company reassured customers that the lack of ripple was simply an anomaly, not the new norm. Seager decided to share his unusual find on the Dull Men's Club Facebook group, a place where people post the everyday oddities that most wouldn't give a second thought. But his post didn’t go unnoticed. In fact, it quickly went viral, amassing over 15,000 reactions and 3,000 comments. People were both fascinated and horrified by the smooth-topped Mars Bar, with some calling it “unsettling” and others finding it oddly amusing. Seager, who seemed entertained by the unexpected attention, called the whole response “bizarre.” Mars Wrigley UK responded to the incident with a bit of humor and a small gesture. The company sent Seager a £2 voucher as compensation for the defective candy. Considering that the Slough factory produces more than 2.5 million Mars bars every day, it's no surprise that occasionally, one might come out looking a little different. A spokesperson for the company highlighted how rare such deviations are, pointing out that the manufacturing process is typically quite precise. Despite the smooth appearance, Seager confirmed that the taste remained unchanged—classic Mars through and through. According to the Mars spokesperson, the classic swirl, perfected over the last 90 years, isn't going anywhere, ensuring fans that the beloved design will stay intact. https://www.bucksfreepress.co.uk/news/24753382.aylesbury-man-purchases-rare-smooth-mars-bar-thame/ https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/cx247dwx1p7o Opening image: Ekaterina79 | Dreamstime.com Quote
