Members Enter Stage Rite Posted November 30 Members Posted November 30 Wallace and Gromit have found a new canvas for their festive antics—the iconic Battersea Power Station. Apple has brought a holiday twist to its UK headquarters with a stop-motion animation featuring the beloved duo, projected onto the power station’s famous towers. The six-minute short film, which is part of Apple’s Shot on iPhone campaign, will be lighting up London every evening from 5 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. until New Year’s Eve. Visitors can watch Wallace and Gromit deck the halls, or rather giant Christmas trees, all set against the backdrop of one of London’s most recognizable landmarks. Aardman, the studio behind Wallace and Gromit, used eight iPhone 16 Pro Max devices equipped with Telephoto cameras to capture the entire animation. Shooting in ProRAW format, they pieced together 4K stills to produce the stunning 6K images needed for the 101-meter-tall projection. Gavin Strange, Aardman’s director and graphic design lead, described the project as a “dream to direct—a cinematic fusion of tech and art.” Strange emphasized the joy of bringing these characters to life using advanced iPhone technology, a process that offered a unique take on stop-motion animation. The display is free to view. It showcases what the iPhone 16 Pro Max is capable of in the hands of talented creators. Apple’s senior vice president of Worldwide Marketing, Greg Joswiak, notes the delight in seeing Battersea Power Station lit up by Wallace and Gromit, giving credit to Aardman’s skill and ingenuity. https://www.macrumors.com/2024/11/29/wallace-and-gromit-shot-on-iphone/ https://appleinsider.com/articles/24/11/30/wallace-and-gromit-light-up-apples-uk-headquarters-for-christmas Images: Apple UK Quote
