PayPal is trimming down its team by about 9%, which means roughly 2,500 folks are going to be out of a job. They're looking to cut through both direct layoffs and not filling some open spots they have. They're also looking into automating more stuff and simplifying their tech to cut down on the complexity and double-dos of work.
This isn't the first time PayPal's been in this boat. They let go about 2k people last year too
