The BMW R 80 G/S, a pivotal motorcycle introduced in 1980, is often hailed as the precursor to adventure bikes. Notably, it achieved the remarkable feat of winning the Dakar Rally in 1981, solidifying its status in the world of motorcycling.In honor of its legacy, BMW has just unveiled the latest iteration of its flagship adventure motorcycle, the BMW R 1300 GS. This new model represents the culmination of BMW Motorrad’s extensive experience and dedication to innovation in adventure bikes.

The R 1300 GS is powered by an entirely new 1,300cc boxer twin engine, equipped with ShiftCam variable valve timing. The chassis produces an impressive 145 horsepower and a substantial 110 foot-pounds of torque, establishing it as the most potent GS model to date. Furthermore, the R 1300 GS is significantly lighter, shedding 26.4 pounds compared to its predecessor, the 1250 model.

This motorcycle undergoes a comprehensive structural redesign, including an updated frame and the incorporation of an advanced EVO Telelever front-end system paired with an EVO Paralever rear unit. These enhancements contribute to improved handling, agility, and overall performance.
