Trendingger
Kia America has issued an urgent “park outside” recall for over 460,000 Telluride SUVs. This move comes in response to a potential fire risk associated with these vehicles. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has backed this recall, urging owners to park their cars away from structures that could catch fire. The fire risk is linked to the SUV’s power seat controls. Specifically, the front power seat motor on the affected SUVs could overheat due to a stuck power seat slide knob. This overheating could potentially lead to a fire, increasing the risk of injury. The recall covers Tellurides from model years 2020-2024. These vehicles were built between January 2019 and May 2024. Kia estimates that 1% of the SUVs have the defect. In response to this issue, Kia plans to install a bracket for the power seat switch back covers and replace the seat slide knobs, free of charge to owners. This isn’t the first time in recent months Kia has had to recall its Telluride SUVs. Earlier this year, it recalled over 427,000 of its 2020 to 2024 Telluride SUVs over a defect that may cause the vehicles to roll away when parked. How will this recall impact Kia’s reputation in the automotive industry? Feel free to share your thoughts below.
