Gadgetter
MGA Entertainment, a California-based toymaker, has issued a recall for an estimated 21 million ‘Make it Mini’ sets. This move comes in response to numerous reports of skin burns and respiratory irritation linked to the product. The ‘Make it Mini’ sets, part of the Miniverse line, were sold across the United States and Canada. The recall specifically targets 38 different sets that contain unused liquid resins. These resins, when in liquid form, can cause skin, eye, and respiratory irritation. The company has received 26 reports of incidents involving both children and adults. The resins in question contain chemical agents in amounts that exceed the limits set by the Federal Hazardous Substances Act. These sets were manufactured in China and sold at various retailers including Walmart, Target, Family Dollar, Dollar General, and ALDI. They were also available online on Amazon.com and sold for between $7 and $13 each. MGA Entertainment is urging consumers to stop using any sets with unused resins. They are offering a pre-paid label for the return of any unopened product or the unused resins. For units already opened, consumers are asked to provide a photograph to receive a replacement or refund. This incident raises questions about the safety standards in place for children’s products. It also underscores the importance of rigorous testing and quality control in the toy industry. What are your thoughts on this issue? Do you believe stricter regulations should be implemented to prevent such incidents in the future?
