TikTok is reaching out to marketers of all backgrounds with a new lineup of courses, called TikTok Academy, that teaches businesses how to smartly put themselves out there. As an advertising avenue, TikTok is relatively new. It has reimagined old commercial spots and ushered in a new generation where being famous on the app can do wonders for your company. However, to get to the level, say, Duolingo has gotten to, businesses might need to be schooled first. To get into the program, you must sign up with a verified email address. Right now, there are only two courses available: TikTok 101 and Small Business. Both are free to attend.

TikTok 101 is an introductory module into the app, detailing how it keeps brands safe, what creative aspects it offers, and what makes the platform unique. Only two to four hours will be needed to get through. Small Business, on the other hand, is a series of 15-minute videos aimed at small and medium enterprises, lending them knowledge on how to kick-start their TikTok journey and make engaging content. As a whole, TikTok describes the curriculum as “a gamified education adventure,” likening it to kids’ educational CD-Rom games where lessons are taught through fun quizzes, mini-games, and challenges. After completing each segment, you will be rewarded with badges. Ultimately, the key to TikTok may not be discovered in these teachings because creating the right content requires a complete understanding of trends and the ability to blend into the public’s feeds without anyone noticing you are attempting to sell them something.

Duolingo and Ryanair, for example, use memes and trends to their advantage as they reach out to the younger generation with some pretty funny tongue-in-cheek content. As such, both have carved a name for themselves for their relatability and their ability to promote their brands without being too overt.

While you won’t get a crash course in how companies like these manage to draw in customers, you will get an overview of all the other technical features of the app that beginners and senior marketing executives alike might find helpful when hopping on board the app. TikTok Academy can be explored here.   [via Social Media Today and TikTok, images via TikTok]
