The movies aren’t just aesthetic treasures, but they also transport you to Hayao Miyazaki’s animated world through emotional scores. Coupled with slow, mindful scenes that connect you with their scenery, the films truly make you feel like you’re stepping into the shoes of the characters at times. Previously believed to be Miyazaki’s final film before he renounced his retirement again, The Boy and the Heron has scooped up some attention for deliberately being scant with its promotional materials. Now, as the project heads for an international release, audiences are being treated to more early glimpses.
