Toyota recalls 381,000 more vehicles (this time over axle issue)

The automotive industry is currently abuzz with the news of Toyota’s latest recall. The Japanese automaker has announced a recall of approximately 381,000 Tacoma midsize pickup trucks. This significant move has been made in response to potential crash risks linked to a defect in the vehicles’ rear axles.

 

The recall involves certain 2022 and 2023 Toyota Tacoma trucks sold in the United States. The issue at hand stems from welding debris left on the ends of the rear axle assembly during manufacturing. This debris could cause retaining nuts to loosen over time and eventually fall off, potentially causing a part to separate from the axle. This scenario could affect the stability and brake performance of the vehicle, thereby increasing the risk of a crash.

 

Toyota dealers will inspect the rear axle assembly and retighten the axle retaining nuts at no cost. If axle components are damaged as a result of the issue, they will be repaired or replaced. Owners of the recalled trucks will be notified through the mail by late April.

 

This recall marks Toyota’s fourth in just six days, which has led to increased online discussions and concerns about the company’s quality control measures. The recall has also sparked debates about the overall safety of vehicles and the responsibility of manufacturers in ensuring their products are free from defects.
