In a game-changing move, Microsoft has revealed its all-digital Xbox Series X and S consoles during the annual Xbox Games Showcase.

The tech giant showcased three gaming consoles in total: a special edition of the Series X with 2 terabytes of storage and, most notably, disc-less models of the Xbox Series X and S consoles. This hardware refresh is expected to boost Xbox sales, providing stiff competition to Sony’s PlayStation 5.

Microsoft also previewed more than a dozen games, including the next installment of “Call of Duty” and "Doom: The Dark Ages". The company is betting big on its subscription service, Xbox Game Pass, with a number of these games being available on the platform on the day of launch.

The all-digital Xbox Series X, now available in Robot White with a 1TB SSD, is priced at $449.99/€499.99. This console is a perfect option for digital-first players who want to experience the speed and performance of Xbox Series X.

In addition to the all-digital Xbox Series X, Microsoft also introduced the Xbox Series S – 1TB in Robot White. This console features a sleek, modern, and compact design with twice the storage, allowing players to store even more of their favorite games.

This announcement comes at a crucial time for Xbox and Microsoft as the gaming industry is witnessing a significant slowdown with major layoffs and studio closures
