Gadgetter
Apple has reportedly put the production of its second-generation Vision Pro headset on hold to focus on a budget-friendlier model. The Vision Pro 2, a high-end headset, was expected to be the successor of the $3,499 Vision Pro launched last year. However, Apple’s decision to suspend its production indicates a strategic shift in the company’s approach towards the AR/VR market. The new direction seems to be driven by a desire to make the technology more accessible to a broader audience. The more affordable model, internally code-named “N109”, is expected to retail for a price similar to a high-end iPhone. This could potentially open up the AR/VR market to a much larger consumer base. Despite the suspension of the Vision Pro 2, Apple is not abandoning its high-end market. The company is reportedly planning to incorporate the Vision Pro’s high-end display components into the low-cost model. This suggests that while the new headset may be lighter on the wallet, it will not compromise on the quality of the user experience. The decision to halt the production of the Vision Pro 2 might seem like a setback, but it could actually be a strategic move that points to a brighter future for Apple’s Vision product line. By focusing on cost and weight reduction, Apple could be paving the way for wider adoption of its AR/VR technology. Will this strategic shift pay for Apple and, more importantly, lead to a new era of mass-market adoption for AR/VR technology? We’d love to hear your thoughts on this.
