Enter Stage Rite
In the ongoing battle of blockbuster popcorn buckets, Dune director Denis Villeneuve has weighed in on Marvel’s attempt to eclipse the memorable Dune: Part Two’s iconic snack container with a raunchy Deadpool & Wolverine take. Supposedly “designed by Deadpool,” Ryan Reynolds’ bucket imagines Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine with his iconic mask, with a wide-open mouth perfect for dispensing popcorn. But even with its flashy design, it probably can’t hold a candle to the Dune bucket, dubbed “Wormussy” by audiences for its sandworm-mouth entry point. During a cheeky red-carpet interview with CTV’s Etalk, Villeneuve playfully jabbed at the competition: “They are tremendously jealous of our bucket,” he quipped, glancing at a photo of the Deadpool & Wolverine release. “They are doing their best to try and bring something horrific to the world. But the Dune bucket is unmatchable.” His verdict? Not a slight against Marvel’s bucket—simply an acknowledgment that “the Dune bucket was one of a kind.” He later clarified, “I’m not saying I don't like the bucket [referring to Deadpool & Wolverine’s design]. I'm just saying it was difficult to beat the Dune bucket. It was like one of a kind.” So, which of the two do you think is harder to swallow?
