Netflix has finally dropped a teaser for the second season of Squid Game, giving us a much-needed lifeline after what felt like an eternity of waiting (time since the pandemic hasn’t seemed to work the same way). The dystopian drama that took the world by storm is back, and it looks like the stakes are higher than ever.

Get ready to dust off your green tracksuit, because the next round of deadly games is scheduled for December 26, 2024. That’s right, we’re still a few months away from the carnage. But hey, at least there’s something to look forward to.

The story picks up where we left off, with Seong Gi-hun or Player 456 (played by Lee Jung-jae), our reluctant hero, hell-bent on uncovering the masterminds behind the twisted competition. Armed with his Season 1 winnings, he’s on a mission to bring these people to justice.

Here’s the official synopsis:

Quote

Three years after winning Squid Game, Player 456 remains determined to find the people behind the game and put an end to their vicious sport. Using this fortune to fund his search, Gi-hun starts with the most obvious of places: look for the man in a sharp suit playing ddakji in the subway. But when his efforts finally yield results, the path toward taking down the organization proves to be deadlier than he imagined: to end the game, he needs to re-enter it.

Joining Gi-hun in the deadly arena is a mix of familiar and fresh faces. Lee Byung-hun (Front Man), Gong Yoo (The Salesman), and Wi Ha-jun (Detective Hwang Jun-ho) are back for another round of survival, while new players like Yim Si-wan, Kang Ha-neul, Park Gyu-young, Park Sung-hoon, Jo Yu-ri, Yang Dong-geun, Kang Ae-sim, Lee David, Lee Jin-uk, Choi Seung-hyun, Roh Jae-won, and Won Ji-an are ready to shake things up.

And if you think that's all, think again. Director Hwang Dong-hyuk has confirmed that a third and final season is on the way for 2025. So buckle up, Squid Game fans. This is going to be a wild ride.
