Apple TV+'s 'Ted Lasso' warms up for Season 4, talks of extra time for AFC Richmond underway

Apple TV+’s whistle might just blow for another round of Ted Lasso. It seems AFC Richmond’s locker room doors aren’t closing just yet, as Warner Bros. Television hints at extra time for the beloved series, reportedly picking it up for Season 4.

 

According to Deadline, the studio has secured the interest of key players Hannah Waddingham (who played Rebecca Welton), Brett Goldstein (Roy Kent), and Jeremy Swift (Leslie Higgins), who are not quite ready to hang up their jerseys after the show’s initial three-season run, which wrapped up in May 2023.

 

However, it’s not a full-time whistle on a fourth season just yet. Warner Bros Television will still need to huddle with other core cast members whose SAG-AFTRA contracts have expired, including the mustached maestro himself, Jason Sudeikis, Brendan Hunt (Coach Beard), and, supposedly, Juno Temple (Keeley Jones). 

 

Being the show’s star, co-creator, and executive producer, Sudeikis’s involvement is crucial. The narrative has always revolved around Ted’s journey, and without him, well, it'd be like fish and chips without the chips.

 

 

Massive critical acclaim has followed Ted Lasso, with the flagship Apple TV+ series bagging multiple Emmy, thanks to its wholesome blend of heart, humor, and sports that has scored with audiences worldwide.

 

However, don’t start planning your viewing parties just yet. While the studio is making moves, including early preparations for a writers' room, several hurdles remain. Budget approvals, scheduling conflicts, and the availability of actors who may have committed to other projects all need to be sorted out.

 

If the stars align (or in this case, if the players line up), production for Season 4 could kick off in early 2025.
