Digimaus
Image: U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission / Fisher Price In a crucial step to ensure infant safety, Fisher-Price has recalled over 2 million Snuga Infant Swings following reports of five infant deaths. The recall, announced by the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), highlights suffocation risks associated with the product. The Snuga Infant Swings, sold between October 2010 and January 2024, were designed for infants up to nine months old and offer front-to-back and side-to-side motions across 21 different models. However, the CPSC has found that when used for sleep or with added bedding, these swings pose a serious suffocation hazard. Between 2012 and 2022, five tragic deaths were reported involving infants aged 1 to 3 months. In most cases, the infants were unrestrained, and bedding materials had been added to the swings. Fisher-Price and the CPSC strongly advise that the swings should never be used for sleep, and parents are urged to remove the headrest and body support insert before use. This recall is part of a broader effort to enhance infant product safety, following the 2022 Safe Sleep for Babies Act, which bans inclined sleepers due to suffocation risks. Fisher-Price and the CPSC emphasize that infants should always sleep on a flat, firm surface like a crib or bassinet, without added bedding or materials. Fisher-Price remains committed to addressing safety concerns and reminds parents to avoid using inclined products like swings or gliders for sleep. By following these recommendations, parents can help prevent further tragedies and ensure the safe use of these products. https://www.cpsc.gov/Recalls/2025/Fisher-Price-Recalls-More-than-2-Million-Snuga-Infant-Swings-Due-to-Suffocation-Hazard-After-5-Deaths-Reported https://www.cbsnews.com/news/fisher-price-recall-infant-swings-deaths/
