Having escaped the shackles of Disney’s copyright protection on January 1, the beloved character has leaped from the sketchbook and right into the uncanny valley. The latest to reimagine the icon is Mickey-1928, an artificial intelligence model that’s turning classic cartoons into a kaleidoscope of inadvertently quirky creations.
