Apple Introduces New ‘Optic ID’ Eye Scanner To Replace Face ID In Vision Pro

With everyone buzzing about Apple’s recent Vision Pro launch, there’s certainly one feature of the headset that’s immediately eye-catching: Optic ID. Instead of the usual Face ID that accompanies the company’s devices, the mixed-reality device will introduce the new technology.

This next-generation biometric authentication system detects users using each person’s unique iris patterns and is said to be more secure than Face ID, considering the eye scanner won’t even be fooled by identical-looking twins.

The data collected using Optic ID will be stored securely under multiple layers of encryption. In addition, it’ll only exist within the Vision Pro hardware and will never leave the headset.
