Google Adds Passkey System To Chrome, Joins Apple In Making Passwords Obsolete

Google joins Apple in introducing passkeys to its system, prompting the question of whether passwords will soon be a thing of the past.

Apple first rolled out the system in June of this year, allowing its users to use encrypted keys and biometrics to log into accounts over their devices. The move removed the need to type out passwords repeatedly and instead relied on a more secure system to keep personal information and data safe.

Google began beta-testing the new feature in October and will now bring it to Chrome Stable M108.
