This reborn icon, combining retro style with modern tech, is a testament to Renault’s innovative spirit. The car’s design largely remains unchanged from the concept first seen three years ago, a nod to the original Renault 5 produced across two generations from 1972 to 1996. Retaining its concept car good looks, the supermini EV promises an impressive 250 miles per charge, blending the retro feel with electric appeal. The car’s interior features a digital instrument cluster, a large infotainment screen, and driver-oriented controls, offering a seamless blend of nostalgia and innovation. The Renault 5 will be available with two battery options, both using the Nickel-Manganese-Cobalt (NMC) chemistry. The entry-level pack boasts a capacity of 40 kilowatt-hours and offers a WLTP driving range of up to 300 kilometers (186 miles), while the bigger option has 52 kWh and increases the maximum estimated range to 400 km (248 miles). Revealed at the Geneva Motor Show, the five-seat Renault 5 is set to hit the road in early 2025. It’s poised to take on other retro-influenced EVs including the Fiat 500 and Mini Electric.
