Enter Stage Rite
Die-hard Star Wars fans might be surprised to learn there’s a hint of Baby Yoda’s backstory over two decades before his adorable debut in The Mandalorian. But hold your ewoks, it’s not quite what it seems! While a character resembling the pint-sized powerhouse did appear in a 2002 Star Wars comic titled Star Wars: Tales: Children of the Force, it wasn’t Grogu himself. This non-canon story featured a nursery filled with younglings, exploring the concept of Yoda’s species existing in larger numbers, but it wasn’t considered part of the official Star Wars lore. Disney+’s The Mandalorian’s breakout star, Grogu (affectionately nicknamed “Baby Yoda” by fans), became an instant sensation. This adorable toddler with a mysterious past is a member of the same species as Yoda and Yaddle, and possesses a powerful connection to the Force. We eventually learned his real name in Chapter 13: The Jedi, which also revealed Grogu’s training at the Jedi Temple before the Clone Wars. So, while there was an earlier glimpse of Yoda’s kind, it wasn’t our favorite foundling. Baby Yoda’s official debut in 2019 remains the heartwarming introduction that launched him into pop culture superstardom. https://screenrant.com/star-wars-baby-yoda-secret-origin/ Opening image: Star Wars: The Mandalorian
