LinkedIn, the Microsoft-owned social platform known for its professional networking and recruitment services, is planning to introduce games to its platform. This move is seen as an attempt to increase user engagement and the time people spend on the platform.

LinkedIn’s gaming venture is set to tap into the wave of puzzle-mania that has swept across the internet, with games like Wordle gaining viral success and millions of players. The company is reportedly working on early efforts for games called “Queens”, “Inference”, and "Crossclimb". These games are expected to bring a bit of fun to the platform, deepen relationships among users, and spark conversations.

Interestingly, LinkedIn seems to be experimenting with a unique feature where player scores are organized by places of work, leading to companies being “ranked” based on those scores. This could add a competitive edge to the platform, encouraging more interaction among users.

However, it’s unclear whether Microsoft’s gaming division is involved in the development of these games. Given Microsoft’s significant presence in the gaming industry, it would be interesting to see how this collaboration unfolds.

As LinkedIn prepares to break into the gaming scene, one can’t help but wonder how this will reshape the platform’s identity. Will LinkedIn’s professional environment blend well with the casual nature of puzzle games? And how will this impact user engagement in the long run? We’d love to hear your thoughts on this. Do you think LinkedIn’s venture into gaming is a good move? Share your views in the comments below.
