In a bold move to challenge Nvidia’s supremacy in the AI market, Intel has unveiled its latest artificial intelligence chip, Gaudi 3. This strategic step is seen as Intel’s most promising attempt yet to compete with Nvidia, a company that currently dominates the AI market with an estimated 80% share.

Intel’s Gaudi 3 is not just another chip in the market. It is designed to be twice as power-efficient and can run AI models one-and-a-half times faster than Nvidia’s H100 GPU. This new chip comes in various configurations, such as a bundle of eight Gaudi 3 chips on one motherboard or a card that can slot into existing systems.

The unveiling of Gaudi 3 is a direct response to Nvidia’s dominance in the AI chip market. Nvidia has earned its $2.2 trillion market cap by producing AI chips that have become the lifeblood powering the new era of generative AI developers. Intel’s new chip is seen as a significant step towards breaking Nvidia’s grip on the AI market.

Intel’s Gaudi 3 is expected to be available to customers in the third quarter. Companies including Dell, HP, and Lenovo are set to build systems with these chips. With this new chip, Intel is not just trying to catch up with Nvidia but also aiming to bring a bigger windfall for the industry.
