Members Enter Stage Rite Posted April 25 Members Posted April 25 Larry Dalrymple has downed his last Duff Beer. In a surprising turn of events, The Simpsons has bade farewell to the character who’s been a silent fixture since the show’s very first episode 35 years ago. Larry the Barfly, a mainstay at Moe’s Tavern known for his gruff demeanor and ever-present beer, met his demise in the recently aired episode, “Cremains of the Day.” Larry, voiced by the prolific Harry Shearer (who also lends his talents to Mr Burns, Ned Flanders, and Waylon Smithers), never spoke much throughout the series. But his consistent presence alongside Homer's barfly buddies, Lenny and Carl, made him a recognizable face to Springfield regulars. The episode explores the aftermath of Larry’s death, with Homer and the gang at Moe’s struggling to come to terms with the loss. It even sheds light on Larry’s previously unknown full name: Lawrence Dalrymple. More importantly, it conveys the unexpected emotional impact of losing someone they considered a friend, despite never truly knowing him. Did Larry’s death surprise you? And did it make you start caring about the show’s other lesser-known characters? https://nypost.com/2024/04/23/entertainment/the-simpsons-killed-off-a-34-year-old-character-and-fans-are-shocked/ https://www.cbr.com/the-simpsons-34-years-later-killed-off/ https://screenrant.com/the-simpsons-season-35-larry-death-homer-problem/ Image: IMDb Quote
