Trendingger
Threads has rolled out a new function that lets users decide who can quote their posts. This innovative feature, aptly named ‘Quote Control’ is seen as a step towards safeguarding users from online harassment and bullying. This feature builds upon the existing functionality that lets users limit who can reply to their posts. Adam Mosseri, who leads both Threads and Instagram for parent company Meta, announced the availability of this feature to all users. The introduction of this feature is expected to make Threads a more positive place and give people more control over their experience. Users can open the conversation to “Anyone,” or limit it to “Profiles you follow” or "Mentioned only". This control should make it harder for users to quote someone else’s post in order to make them look silly. The launch of this feature has sparked conversations about the balance between freedom of speech and user safety. While some users appreciate the added control, others worry about the potential for misuse. What do you think? Does this feature enhance your online experience or limit your freedom of expression?
