Tesla supercharges its alcohol venture with $450 bottles of mezcal (its most expensive yet)

Tesla, the renowned electric vehicle manufacturer, has ventured into the world of high-end spirits with its latest offering. The company, led by the visionary Elon Musk, has unveiled a $450 bottle of mezcal, marking its most expensive liquor to date.

 

This mezcal, a spirit known for its smoky flavor, is housed in a hand-blown, lightning bolt-shaped glass bottle. The design, conceived by Tesla’s director of product design, Javier Verdura, draws inspiration from the centuries-old pottery traditions of Oaxaca, Mexico. The mezcal itself is described as having a delicate balance of citrus and green apple notes, with a lingering smoky finish.

 

Tesla’s mezcal is not the company’s first foray into the alcohol industry. It follows the release of the $250 Tesla Tequila in 2020, and the CyberBeer and CyberBeer in 2023. Each of these products was met with significant consumer interest, often selling out shortly after release.

The mezcal, like its predecessors, is expected to become a collector’s item among Tesla enthusiasts. However, those interested in sampling the spirit will find it offers a unique tasting experience. The mezcal is made from the fermentation of Espadín and Bicuishe agaves, yielding a spirit that is both floral and spicy, with earthy aromas and hints of lime, green apple, and spice.
