Watchoutter
Image: Jacob & Co. Earlier this month, Bugatti just debuted a $4M hybrid hypercar designed like a watchmaking masterpiece. Now, it's unveiling an Tourbillion hyperwatch inspired by the V16-engine speedster. Created in collaboration with its longtime partner Jacob & Co., this horological marvel is a timepiece that mirrors the extreme luxury, performance, and craftsmanship of its automotive counterpart. The Bugatti Tourbillon’s design is a direct homage to the Bugatti hyper sports car. The watch case mimics the car’s iconic shape, complete with the front grille, side radiator inlets, and even the C-shape side scoops and triple exhaust crown setup. The sub-dials are designed like the car’s dashboard and rpm counter. The case sides feature large sapphire openings, shaped and tinted like the car’s side windows. The centerpiece of the Bugatti Tourbillon is its automaton, a miniature, working mechanical model of the new naturally aspirated V16 engine found in the Bugatti Tourbillon car. At the press of a button, the 16 pistons fire up and down in their sapphire cylinders, driven by a single-block crankshaft. This animation sequence, lasting about 20 seconds, brings the Bugatti Tourbillon to life. View this post on Instagram A post shared by JACOB & CO. (@jacobandco) The Bugatti Tourbillon features a 30° inclined flying tourbillon, a sophisticated mechanism that enhances the watch’s accuracy. This tourbillon completes a rotation around its axis every 30 seconds, twice as fast as most tourbillons. It is secured only from below, offering an unobstructed view of its intricate workings. The teams worked together to ensure a seamless integration of car and watch design. The result is an extraordinary timepiece, developed over 18 months, that showcases the innovative synergy between two of the world’s most luxurious brands. Like its $4 million hypercar, the Bugatti Tourbillon wristwatch is not intended to be light on the wallet either. Its release is limited to 150 pieces and retails at a grand $340,000 (before taxes) each.
