After a colorful 26-year run, the cherished cartoon cornerstone that was CartoonNetwork.com has drawn its final frame, redirecting fans to Max, the company’s streaming service, since August 8.

The site’s closure by Warner Bros. Discovery marks the end of an era for animation enthusiasts who relied on it for free access to beloved shows. From the mathematical adventures of Adventure Time to the whimsical world of The Amazing World of Gumball, CartoonNetwork.com was a treasure trove of entertainment. Fans could dive into full episodes, snack on video clips, and while away hours with free games featuring their favorite characters.

This digital shift aligns with Warner Bros. Discovery’s broader strategy to streamline its content offerings. The company has been sketching out plans to consolidate its properties, including the recent sunset of the Boomerang classic cartoon streamer. Now, Max stands as the new canvas for Cartoon Network’s vibrant lineup.

Visitors to the old site are now greeted with a message encouraging them to explore Max for their animated fix. “Looking for episodes of your favorite Cartoon Network shows? Check out what's available to stream on Max (subscription required),” the pop-up reads.

For those still tethered to traditional cable, Cartoon Network programming remains available on TV and connected apps for subscribers.

Warner Bros. Discovery isn’t alone in this trend; Paramount Global recently made similar strokes, removing content from Comedy Central’s site and erasing the full archives of MTV News and CMT from the internet. These decisions come as cable TV networks face significant challenges, with Warner Bros. Discovery reporting a net loss of nearly $10 billion in their Q2 financials.

As the animation landscape continues to evolve, fans are left to wonder what new adventures await in this streaming-centric world.
