The Volkswagen ID.7 Tourer, a recent addition to the electric vehicle market, is making waves with its innovative design and advanced features. Developed specifically for the European market, this electric wagon is a fusion of classic estate and dynamic shooting brake.

The ID.7 Tourer is Volkswagen’s first electric station wagon, boasting a generous cargo space that rivals crossover vehicles. It offers increased legroom and luggage capacity, enhancing the sedan’s attributes1. However, it’s worth noting that the ID.7 Tourer falls slightly short of the Passat Variant’s footprint.

Under the hood, the ID.7 Tourer shares the same powertrain as its sedan sibling. It comes with a standard 77.0-kWh battery that should return around 300 miles of range and an optional 86.0-kWh battery that Volkswagen claims will achieve 426 miles on a charge on Europe’s WLTP test cycle. The larger battery pack can recharge at up to 200 kW, going from 10 to 80 percent in under 30 minutes.

The ID.7 Tourer’s cabin is identical to that of the sedan, with a large 15.0-inch infotainment display protruding from the dashboard and minimal physical buttons. The Tourer does receive an upgraded head-up display with augmented reality as standard, which now displays Apple CarPlay or Android Auto navigation.

According to Volkswagen, ChatGPT is also on board for the first time. “The new IDA voice assistant is operated using natural language. Within the system limits, this not only enables control of many vehicle functions, but also answers specific questions on all conceivable subjects by accessing online databases.”

Despite its impressive features, the ID.7 Tourer is not expected to reach dealerships in the United States. Sales of the ID.7 Tourer are set to kick off in Europe later this year.

With the introduction of the ID.7 Tourer, Volkswagen continues to push the boundaries of electric mobility. But what do you think? Does the ID.7 Tourer’s blend of practicality and electric efficiency make it a game-changer in the electric vehicle market? We’d love to hear your thoughts.
